Welcome to the SIAC community
On behalf of the President and the Committee, Welcome to the website of SHAPE International Angling Club, or SIAC.
The SIAC is open to military and civilian members of SHAPE, NATO, organizations in support of SHAPE, and their dependants. Full membership of the Club is currently 100 Euros per year and this includes the member’s immediate family at no additional cost. For potential younger members, there is also “Junior” or “Student” membership available, details of which can be obtained from the Club Secretary.
The Club’s main fishing location is a rented lake located near the village of St Denis, approximately four kilometers from SHAPE. It is pleasantly situated in the countryside and provides really excellent sport. Species in the lake include carp, tench, bream, pike, walleyes, roach, perch and rudd. With few exceptions, in the interests of conservation the SIAC operates a “Catch and Release” policy, which is strictly enforced. For those who like to fish during the hours of darkness, night fishing is permitted, although camping at the lake is not allowed.
The SIAC runs special events and functions involving the family at which a barbecue is invariably held. These events, which are advertised well in advance, are very popular and provide a good day out of all family members.
Club matches are fished on the lake, and at other venues when possible, on a regular basis, but you do not have to be a "“matchman” to enjoy the fishing at St Denis. Nor do you have to be an experienced angler to enjoy membership of the SIAC. Newcomers to the sport will always find other Club members ready and willing to offer advice and help on the best kind of tackle and bait to use, as well as on the location of fishing shops in the immediate area.
Club Committee meetings are held regularly to exchange views and discuss ways of making improvements. In addition, general membership meetings are held at least once, and normally twice annually, which members are encouraged to attend to express their individual points of view.
Meanwhile the site acting as an information portal for our Community, We hope visitors will enjoy looking around as well.
