EuroChallenge de la Defense Peche au Coup

The Military Eurochallenge was created in 1998 between the Teams of Belgium and France. The teams are composed of only active duty military, retired military, and civilians employed by the Minister of Defense and those members in a federation or club which have a right by the Ministry of Defense.

In 1999, an invitation was extended to SHAPE International Angling Club to participate in this event. The event took place in Liege. The following year, the participating teams increased to five with the addition of both England and Denmark. This event took place at St George sur Eure, France.

In 2001, Holland joined the Eurochallenge and it was organized by Belgium and took place at Pommeroel, Belgium.

In 2002, the Eurochallenge was organized by France and took place near Amiens, France.

In 2003, the Eurochallenge was organized by England and took place at Willow Lake in England.

In 2004, the Eurochallenge was organized by Holland and took place in the province of Flevoland near Almere, Holland.

In 2005, the Eurochallenge was organized by Team SHAPE and took place Ghlin, Belgium

In 2006, the Eurochallenge was organized by Belguim and took place at Blier-Erezee, Belgium.

In 2007, the Eurochallenge was organized by Holland and took place at Lage Vaart, Dronten, Holland.

In 2008, the Eurochallenge was organized by France and took place at Libourne, France.

This is usually an Official Opening and Closing Awards Ceremony with Distinguished Guests and VIPS being present. A Banquet is held on the evening of the last fishing day.

The SHAPE International Angling Club has established a team which we call TEAM SHAPE. Fishing in these events can be very expensive since we do travel to various countries where the event may be held. These expenses include lodging, travel, bait, fuel, banquet costs and participation in the purchase of medals and trophies for the event. The Club itself has very little resources to sponsor such an event. For this reason, a special effort was made this year to find sponsors which would help support the Team.
The results have been fantastic and this year we have been supported with Team clothing and monies to cover other expenses such as bait, groundbait, vehicle rental, fuel and toll costs, lodging, Trophies and medals, and banquet expenses.
